Jobs in the healthcare industry have been fairly quarrantined from the economic downturn of recent years, so many people have considered a career change, lookking at those options. A pair of information sessions hosted by Lewis and Clark Community College will be held today to help guide the curious toward their goal, and give them the information needed to make that choice.
That information includes what their time and financial commitment to the course may be, and what they can expect as job potential after completing their studies. The courses offered through the college are offered entirely online, and are a product of Career Step, which is a good partnership, according to LCCC's Assistant Director of Corporate and Community Learning Katie Haas.
The U.S. Department of Labor projects that the number of new jobs in medical coding and billing will grow by 21 percent, and those in medical transcription will increase by 6 percent. Pharmacy technician opportunities are expected to grow even more with a projected 32 percent increase by 2020.
