Gas prices have been steadily climbing for a couple of months now, with a gallon now costing about $4.09 in and around the Riverbend. As a result, Madison County Transit is seeing a noticeable increase in ridership. The agency offers not only the bus service, but ride finding programs for those who may find more effective transportation by carpooling or vanpooling.
MCT Spokesman SJ Morrison says while more people are using public transit, he expects a continued increase, especially with those who work in St. Louis.
Morrison reminds there are bike racks on all of their busses, allowing people to take their bike from their home to a bus stop, and then take it with them after they reach their destination. There is also a trip savings calculator on the MCT website. To learn more, follow the link provided at this story at AltonDailyNews.com.
