Gas prices continue to fluctuate, with a gallon now costing about $3.60 in and around the Riverbend. It has flirted with $4.00 a gallon several times this year. As a result, Madison County Transit saw a noticeable increase in ridership, and topped 2.5-million boardings for Fiscal Year 2013, which is a new record for the agency.
MCT Spokesman SJ Morrison says even with gas prices falling some recently, many who began using their service continued to do so - especially on the express routes.
Morrison reminds there are bike racks on all of their busses, allowing people to take their bike from their home to a bus stop, and then take it with them after they reach their destination. There is also a trip savings calculator on the MCT website. To learn more, follow the link provided at this story at AltonDailyNews.com.
