The mayors of Alton and Godfrey will join other mayors from the Metro East today in Belleville to draw attention to the impact cuts in the state income tax reimbursement would have on local municipalities. The Illinois Municipal League is hosting the event at Belleville City Hall as Governor Bruce Rauner has suggested a 50% cut to the Local Government Distributive Fund.
Godfrey Mayor Mike McCormick tells The Big Z that kind of cut would mean $700,000 less coming back to the village.
