A $1.25-million project to renovate the gymnasium and surrounding areas at Marquette Catholic High School in Alton was completed earlier this year and the students, staff and administrators have spent the first week of classes getting used to the newly renovated facilities. The Commons area has been improved drastically and the gymnasium has been fully renovated according to Principal Mike Slaughter.
He says the improvements to the gym will change the first impression visitors have of the school.

Slaughter says that the school's enrollment has topped 400 for the first time in many years and he's hopeful the new facilities will mean continued growth for Marquette.
