No one was physically injured in an armed robbery last Monday night at the Casey's General Store on Illinois Route 140, but a member of the local law enforcement community says the mental damage may linger. Two robbers described as short, skinny and young entered the store just after 11:30, held up the clerks at gunpoint, and fled on foot after grabbing an undisclosed amount of cash.
Madison County Sheriff's Department Captain Mike Dixon tells The Big Z in armed robberies, the victims can have long-lasting issues even if they were not physically harmed.

Dixon says his office has received more tips than normal following the robbery, but they are still looking for information that will lead to arrests. If you know anything about this crime, Dixon asks you to call the Sheriff's Department at 618-692-0871, or the Anonymous Tip Line at 618-296-3000.
