An Alton man will spend 8 years in prison for his role in the robbery of two gas stations last year. 17-year-old Willie Brooks of the 500 block of Cherry Street pleaded guilty to one count of armed robbery for incidents at the Casey’s General Stores in Godfrey and on Washington Avenue in Alton.
Authorities say Brooks was present at both robberies but was not armed. The Big Z reported at the time of the robberies that two masked suspects entered the Godfrey Casey’s the night of November 5, showed a handgun and demanded money while threatening two clerks. Two others charged with armed robbery are 24-year-old Soloman L Hubbard and 16-year-old Jarrett A. Wright, both of Alton. IN addition to the Casey’s robberies, Hubbard and Wright are also connected to robberies of the Alton CVS, the Alton Walgreen’s and Casey’s on Broadway in Alton.
