Federal authorities say a man who tried to sell Meth to a woman in Madison County has entered a guilty plea to the crime. 46-year-old 46-year-old George W. Holliday, Sr., of East Alton faces up to 60 years in prison when he is sentenced on March 1 following a case that began in Glen Carbon.
Authorities say Holliday, and co-defendant James Bailey, Jr., were attempting to sell Meth to a woman in Pocahontas on November 22, 2014. He also admitted that before Glen Carbon Police tried to pull him over later during a traffic stop, he told Bailey to hide a handgun under the car seat cushion. Bailey pled guilty to Meth and firearms offenses last month and will be sentenced in January. Holliday pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute Meth, attempted distribution of Meth, and obstruction of justice. In addition to the prison sentence, Holliday faces a fine of up to $1-million.
