Federal authorities have announced the guilty plea in a recent child pornography investigation.   34 year old Robert E. Godsey of Alhambra pleaded guilty this week to three counts of related to the distribution, reception and possession of materials containing child pornography.

Federal authorities say a search warrant was obtained for Godsey’s home earlier this summer to look for evidence of child pornography.  At the time of the search, police found a notebook computer in his bedroom and he reportedly admitted during a subsequent interview that he collected and traded images and videos of minors engaged in sexual activity with other people via the Internet.  Godsey’s prosecution is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.  His sentencing is set for March 13th where he could face up to 40 years in prison.
