A Granite City man was convicted this week, during a trial in Madison County Court, of injuring an infant. 20 year old Kamryn Kerr was found guilty by a jury on Thursday of beating the then 7-week old causing multiple rib, leg and skull fractures. The mother of the child is also facing charges. Kerr is listed as the child’s father.
The child is recovering and is in foster care. Police in Granite City were notified of the injuries to the child when he was brought to Gateway Regional Medical Center on September 8. Kerr and 19 year old Ashlee Wethington were each charged on September 10 with aggravated battery to a child and endangering the life or health of a child. Kerr could face between 24 and 120 years in jail and under Illinois law must serve at least 85-pecent of that sentence. He is being held in the Madison County Jail awaiting sentencing. The case against Wethington is pending.
