A St. Louis man has been charged in the death of an SIU-Edwardsville student. 24 year old Michael Gordon has been charged with first degree murder in the death of 19 year old Taylor Clark, who was shot and killed on Monday when the two apparently met about the sale of Clark’s car.
The St. Louis Major Case Squad was activated early Tuesday after authorities discovered Clark’s body in a wooded area near where his car was found on the parking lot of MTC Truck Driver Training Center in Hazelwood. Police were able to piece together emails between Clark and Gordon, after Clark posted his car for sale on Craigslist. Authorities believe Clark was shot on the parking lot and Gordon then tried to hide the body nearby. It was discovered early Tuesday and Gordon was taken into custody for questioning later that day. Police are still looking for the gun used in the crime, along with Gordon’s vehicle, a red 1990 BMW with Missouri license plates FL3Z9K. He remains held on a $1-million bond. Meanwhile, a candlelight vigil was held outside a ZX gas station in Troy, Illinois, last evening where Clark was employed.
