An Alton man has been charged with attempted murder in a stabbing incident in upper Alton on Wednesday. 36 year old Anthony D. Davis of the 1200 block of Spaulding is also charged with aggravated battery after he allegedly attacked a woman with a knife as she was walking to an appointment.
The unidentified woman was accosted on the parking lot of Wellspring Resources Wednesday afternoon. She suffered injuries to her head, neck and hand. She was treated and released at a local hospital. The woman had apparently just arrived at the facility for a counseling session with her 6-year-old son, who was not injured. Davis has a history of mental illness, according to Alton Police Chief Jason Simmons, and was just recently released from state prison in September for aggravated vehicular hijacking of a handicapped person. He is being held on $250,000 bond in the Madison County Jail.
