An Alton man is facing charges in Madison County Court after he allegedly refused to turn over his 7-month-old child to the baby’s mother and also damaged her car. 27-year-old Bradley M. Vowels is charged with felony child abduction, criminal damage to property and battery.
During an incident last Thursday, the woman obtained an emergency order of protection against Vowels and he allegedly refused to return the child to the mother, smashed her car windows and left with the child. The woman reported the incident to the Alton Police who located Vowels at the home of a relative on Hillcrest Avenue. Vowels told police he took the child to the home of a woman in the 100 block of Bluff Street. The child was found unharmed and returned to the mother and Vowels was arrested. He is free on bond and waiting for a court date on September 8.
