A Pontoon Beach man is accused of promising home repair work, then stealing money from his alleged victim. 24 year old Noah Boswell of the 600 block of Peacock was charged Monday with theft over $500 after authorities say he and another man had promised to do home repair work for a Glen Carbon man who lives on Lou Juan Drive, but cashed a check and never did any work.
The Madison County Sheriff's Department says not only did the men not do any work, they also stole cash from the elderly victim. Boswell and another man allegedly verbally agreed on December 10th to do home repairs for the victim and the man paid the men with a check. The victim says the next day, the men returned claiming the check did not clear, and demanded a cash payment which the victim gave them. It turns out, the check did clear the bank and the men also had the cash from the victim. Boswell is being held in the Madison County Jail, and detectives continue to investigate the case.
