After about 5 years without a K-9, the Macoupin County Sheriff's Department will soon be getting a new dog. The department was recently awarded a nearly $70,000 grant to go toward the purchase of a K-9 and associated training costs, and a Chevy Tahoe customized for K-9 use.
Macoupin County Sheriff Shawn Kahl tells The Big Z the dog will be a welcome addition.

The K-9 handler will be Sergeant Dively, a veteran of the Sheriff's Department. Kahl says training is expected to begin by the end of April.
