The American Legion’s Great Lakes Regional baseball tournament will begin in four days, and the local organizer says there’s more to hosting it than meets the eye. Starting Tuesday at Alton’s Gordon Moore Park, there will be hundreds of players, coaches and supporters in town from Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Michigan and Wisconsin.
Dennis Sharp, General Manager of Alton Post 126 Baseball, tells The Big Z one of the aspects of this tournament is the benevolent effort. He says Pat McGinnis helped organize a benefit for the military organization Operation Homefront.
