A Cottage Hills Woman has been sentenced to five years on probation and ordered to pay back the money she stole after pleading guilty to healthcare fraud. 50-year-old Lisa Jorden was part of a nationwide takedown of home health care fraud last summer. Almost 250 people were charged nationally during the fourth round of "Operation Home Alone."
Jorden admitted to submitting false and fraudulent bills, claiming she was performing personal assistant services as part of the Home Services Program. That's a Medicaid Waiver program designed to allow people to stay in their homes rather than go into nursing homes. According to the acting U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, Jorden improperly billed hours of services and received almost $17,000 in payments for services not performed.
