Bethalto School District Superintendent Dr. Cindy Blasa says keeping kids safe while they're in school is a top priority. The school board was briefed at its meeting on Monday by the Bethalto Police Chief and Assistant Chief on measures they have taken to address any potential threats. The school district also has a series of protocols in place to protect the kids.
She says the staff is also instructed to greet any visitors without a pass, and in a non-threatening way, ask them where they are going. Both public and private schools in Illinois are required to do an emergency drill at least once a year.
