An East Alton man recently won $1-million in an Illinois lottery game. 34 year old Bobby McDonald was one of three $1-million top prize winners in the state in the St. Patrick's Day Millionaire game that was drawn on March 18. The other two winners were in the Chicago area.
In a release from the Illinois Lottery, McDonald said he played the game on a whim and is usually only an occasional lottery player. He purchased the $20 ticket at Beasley’s Gas ‘N Go, in Wood River. The retailer received a bonus of $10,000, 1 percent of the prize amount, for selling a winning ticket. McDonald says he plans to invest some of the money and buy a house with his fiancé. He works at Alton Steel.
