The gear required for firefighters to practice their craft is not cheap, so departments often look for grants to pay for things like that when possible. The East Alton Fire Department was recently awarded a grant by the Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company through their Heritage Program.
East Alton Fire Chief Randy Nelson tells The Big Z they will use the funding to purchase turnout gear.
