Alton's Rock Spring Golf Course will continue to offer local golfers a nine-hole course for the foreseeable future. A new golf course management team led by local businessman Vern Van Hoy will take over operation of the course a week from today, and he says he felt moved to get involved.
Van Hoy comments
Alton Golf Management entered into an agreement several years ago to run both Rock Spring and Wadlow, but is getting out. They had purchased some of their own equipment to augment what the city had used previously. Alton Corporation Counselor Jim Schrempf says that was part of the formula for breaking off that agreement.
The Committee of the Whole has also approved the final step to put the municipal electric aggregation in the hands of Good Energy, which will soon begin negotiating with various power providers to find the best deal for the various government bodies into which it has entered into agreements. The full council meets to give final approval to these and other measures tomorrow night at 7:30.
