The Lincoln Funeral Commemoration will be held in Downtown Alton on Saturday, and will be one of the final events statewide of the 150th anniversary of his death. Beginning at 10am, Lincoln – Douglas Square will be the center of attention for those who are downtown to witness the commemoration.

There will also be face painting, a penny toss, and other games for the kids. This event is free and open to the public. For $5, you can take a 45-minute shuttle tour to four sites along the Lincoln Legacy Trail. Stops include: Lyman Trumbull House, Confederate Prison, Franklin House and Lincoln Shields/Smallpox Island. There will be a guide on board the shuttle who will explain the significance of each site to Abraham Lincoln and the Civil War. For more information, call 465-6676.
