It's lightning safety awareness week, and the Illinois Emergency Management Agency is reminding that "When The Thunder Roars, Go Indoors." If you can hear rumbling, you're close enough to the storm to be struck by lightning. That's a message that should be taken seriously, according to IEMA spokesman Patti Thompson.

Thompson also reminds that you need to use precautions once you're inside as well. That includes staying away from water, electric utilities and landline phones since they can attract lightning during a storm.
