The Riverbender.com Community Center was recently given a $1,000 donation from Liberty Bank. The money will go toward the vault renovation project. Plans are under way to transform the building's century old bank vault into a new multipurpose space that will be used as a new age educational classroom, a casual meeting room, and an entertainment space.
The vault will have the theme of Batman's cave at Gotham City and will feature glow in the dark carpet, new furniture, software, computers, wall murals and hi-tech lighting. Community Center head John Hentrich (pictured, right) says he still needs about $8,000 in donations to complete the project and to purchase all the remaining digital learning aids. Liberty Bank's Brett Mayberry (pictured, left) says the project is a huge undertaking.
The Riverbender.com Community Center is open to its members, grades 6 through 12, from 3pm to 6pm, Monday through Friday. For more information, call 465-9850, ext. 212, or click here: www.riverbender.com/communitycenter
