Teams competing in the American Legion Great Lakes Regional Tournament will be settling in as tournament time draws near. More than 160 players, along with coaches and supporters from teams in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Michigan and Wisconsin will all call Alton home for the next week. The kick-off banquet is tomorrow, with the first games scheduled for Wednesday at Lloyd Hopkins Field at Gordon Moore Park.
Dennis Sharp, General Manager of Alton Post 126 Baseball, tells The Big Z opening ceremonies will be held at 4pm Wednesday after the first two games of the day have been played.

This tournament is the final round for Great Lakes Legion baseball teams on their way to the American Legion World Series, which will be held in Shelby, NC.
