The Faculty Association at Lewis and Clark Community College in Godfrey have come to an agreement, averting a strike. The new three-year deal will give full-time faculty a 2 percent wage increase this school year, 2.25 percent in 2012-2013, and 2 percent during 2013-2014. It is retroactive to August 15.
The faculty met Sunday night, and before voting on the proposal, they voted not to strike. After that, the decision was which plan to ratify. Of the 82 members to cast a vote, 64, chose the deal that also includes increased compensation for lab and clinical instructors. Eighteen chose the proposal that emphasized a base salary increase, rather than ratio modifications. Negotiations have been ongoing since March.
