They were just a few kids having fun, but several prank calls left them in trouble with the law. Mount Vernon Police say three kids were behind a prank call that sent authorities on a two hour hunt, only to come up empty handed. Police say the kids called People Against Violent Environments Thursday and claimed a three-year-old girl had been stabbed and was bleeding out pretty badly.
The caller also explained more children were in danger. Then, around two o'clock, someone called the police department and said they were in a white, two-story house near McDonald's. Officers were dispatched to the area but could not find the home. They became suspicious when the caller refused to hang up and dial 9-1-1. Plus, the caller started giving contradictory information. Officials traced the call to a home in Centralia where two 12-year olds and an eight year old were arrested for the ordeal. The children will likely have to perform community service or go to court.
