An Illinois judge has upheld the state's ban on keeping residents from carrying loaded guns in public. U.S. Judge Sue Myerscough issued the opinion late Friday that says the Second Amendment gives citizens the right to possess lawful firearms in their homes, and not elsewhere. Illinois is the only state that does not allow for conceal carry.
One group is appealing that ruling. Dave Workman with the Second Amendment Foundation says Illinoisans shouldn't be treated any differently than others across the nation:
The judge in Springfield also said in her ruling the U.S Supreme Court has not recognized a right to bear firearms outside the home. A spokesman for the Brady Center's Legal Action Project says the ruling is a victory for those who want to keep loaded guns off the streets.
