Josephine's Tea Room has plans to expand its kitchen, but the approval it needed and was passed last Monday will have to come before the Village Board again. The village trustees suspended the rules to approve the variance, but Godfrey Mayor Mike McCormick says that part of the process was not done correctly.
The issue with Josephine's in the past has been opposition by the neighboring apartment complex over concerns over stormwater runoff and a possible devaluation of the property. McCormick says construction crews are ready to go as soon as this oversight is corrected. The first thing crews will do is construct a fence between the restaurant and the apartment complex, and then dig a raingarden to address any additional rainwater that may affect the neighbors. Trustees will meet Monday night at 7pm.
