Gasoline is getting more expensive. Over the last month, the average price in Illinois has risen from $3.23 to $3.39, according to the Triple-A Fuel Gauge Report. “Prices have gone up in the past month or so. We had some refinery issues in the Midwest and so all of the Midwest got hit with some higher prices over the past month,” said Beth Mosher of the Triple-A Chicago Motor Club.

There were equipment problems this week due to the cold weather at refineries in Joliet and Lemont, but those facilities are back to regular production. Mosher says this is normally a time of year when gas prices are lowest. The price last year at this time was $3.32.
