Voters in Wood River have chosen who will represent them as council members.  With two of the four seats on the ballot, incumbents Frank Akers (777) and Sharon Kadell (778) gathered more votes than challenger Tony Roberts (474).  But the makeup of the council is not set in stone.

With the recent passing of Mayor Fred Ufert, the council will select one of its own to finish out his unexpired term, leaving one spot to be filled.  The council will then nominate someone to fill out the unexpired term of the council member who moves into the mayor's office.  The mayor’s seat is expected be filled at a special board meeting Thursday night.
