Businesses are getting more time before they have to meet standards of the Affordable Healthcare Act.  The Obama administration is delaying the implementation of the employer mandate until 2015, but that has many people wondering what the impact will be on a personal level.  Mark Terry, with the Illinois Department of Insurance, says that is a question that is still being researched.

Terry comments

The rules would have required employers with 50 or more full-time workers to provide coverage or face possible penalties.  Terry reminds policies on the healthcare exchange will not be so-called government insurance.  It is a clearing house of various plans, similar to the Expedia or Travelocity sites where you can go to shop for travel options.  There will also be subsidies available for some individuals and families.  As of January 1, federal law states everyone must have health insurance.
