Prisons in Illinois are getting staffed with 119 more correctional officers. That’ll help keep the peace in some facilities, but Anders Lindall with AFSCME says that's just a drop in the bucket to what Illinois needs.
The 119 new officers graduated last week and say they’re ready to get to work. Their duties will include anything that relates to the safety for both staff and inmates. Plus, some will head programs that deal with inmate rehabilitation. The officers start work Monday.
