With the falling river comes the reopening on some area roads. The Illinois Department of Transportation will attempt to have many of the busier highways open by the end of the day Monday, but there will be some significant exceptions.
IDOT Engineer Joe Monroe says the first to open should be Illinois Route 100 at Route 67, followed by the Great River Road between Alton and Grafton and Route 3 at 100 in Grafton. The flood gates at the Wood River Creek in East Alton are now open. But he tells The Big Z you will still have no access to Missouri at the Clark Bridge for now.

Route 143 near Illinois 255 is also proving to be problematic, according to Monroe. He says it has not drained nearly as much as they had hoped, and the agency is in a situation that he describes as "wait and see." You can hear the full conversation with Monroe below.
