If you drive between Brighton and Godfrey on a regular basis, you should be aware of some construction that began this week as part of the ongoing higher-speed rail project. This spring, the Illinois Department of Transportation cleared many of the trees along the railroad right-of-way in preparation for the service.
IDOT Engineer John Adcock tells The Big Z they are currently putting in a new intersection along Illinois Route 267 / 111 at Terpening Lane just south of where it is now.

IDOT bought out property earlier this year to prepare for demolition at the David Lane intersection. American Storage, Mohawk's Pub, and six residences were demolished as part of that project.
