Today is Election Day in Illinois for many city and school board positions. Polls are open from 6 a. m. to 7 p.m., and hotlines are going to be active. “Sometimes people will call and say, ‘I was told I wasn’t registered,’” says Jim Tenuto, assistant executive director of the Illinois State Board of Elections, which can “direct them to their local election official to verify.”
Tenuto says call volume was light on the municipal primary day in February, and the board expects only 20-25 percent turnout statewide. The hotline numbers are (312) 814-6466 and (217) 782-4141.
