New business for the village of Godfrey is the goal of Mayor Mike McCormick. While the main commercial and retail corridor is along Godfrey Road and Highway 67, he thinks the main thrust in the coming years will be along 255, across from Village Hall. He says one developer is already eyeing up the area for a potential hotel / motel.
McCormick tells The Big Z they are looking at a vacant lot near the 255 interchange on Montclaire Avenue where a farm supply store used to sit.

McCormick says there currently are not enough rooms in the Riverbend to lodge all of the visitors that come to town for the numerous tournaments and other activities during the summer. He says he has not heard of any new activity surrounding the plan for a couple of months, and believes the developers are looking for investors.
