Breast cancer is the leading cancer diagnosed in American women, so a local hospital is planning a series of events this month to recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month. OSF St. Anthony's Health Center in Alton has created "Pinktober" in an effort to raise awareness about the disease and encourage women to get checked out.
One of the events will be Girls Night Out, which Mammography Tech Christine Tepen tells The Big Z you need to register for if you plan to attend.

To register, call 474-6152. There will also be a pair of mammography pledge days on October 7 & 14, where you pledge your commitment to have a mammogram and be eligible to win prizes. There are other events planned throughout the month as well. For more information, go to www.sahc.org
