Nearly a week ago the city of Alton announced fines and sanctions against two downtown bars following numerous police calls to the establishments within the last two years. The city has now imposed similar penalties against a third business, CTW's Lounge on Belle Street.
Alton Mayor Hoechst, who also serves as the city's liquor commissioner, says they met with the owners of CTW's Lounge last Friday to discuss the punishment that would be given to the establishment.
The other two penalized bars, Spirit's Lounge and The Firehouse, both located on State Street are open today. Spirit's Lounge had it's license stripped from June 6th until today. The Firehouse closed over the weekend on June 6th-8th, and will also be closed on June 15, 16, 22, and 23rd.
Hoechst says that he feels that the owners of the three bars understand the message that he was trying to get across and that he hopes that everyone can get back to running successful businesses.
