Law enforcement professionals from the federal, state, county, and municipal level continue to wage war on heroin use and what can be done to reverse the trend. While the overdoses in Madison County are on pace with what was reported last year, officials are not letting themselves believe the threat is over. A local group is helping organize an awareness rally tomorrow afternoon in Upper Alton.
Chad Sabora is an admitted former addict, and is trying to help others kick the habit. He says the most important thing he could tell someone battling heroin addiction is to understand what it is they are dealing with.
The Stop Heroin in Alton rally will be held from Noon - 3:00pm Saturday at the corner of College and Washington Avenues. Sabora and fellow organizer Ed McCann say it wouldn't be surprising to see nearly 200 people at the rally tomorrow.
