Fire Safety Month got off to a good start for the Hartford Fire Department. It received a $23,000 donation from Phillips 66 to replace aging bunker / turnout gear. The grant will buy 12 sets of gear, which has to be changed out every ten years according to National Fire Protection Association guidelines.
Hartford Projects Manager Deanna Barnes tells The Big Z the grant comes after the fire chief got the ball rolling.
