The Village of Bethalto is in the process of bringing a new water treatment plant on line, and during the switch officials say you will be experiencing some hard water. This is from the calcium and magnesium found in ground water, but it is not a cause for concern, according to Mayor's Assistant Jeff Allsman.
Hard water is caused by the calcium and magnesium found in ground water. You may notice a white film on dishes or sometimes milky or discolored water, but again, Allsman says the water is still safe to drink and no boil order has been issued. He says the switch over should be done within a week.
