The East Alton Police and officials in the East Alton Elementary School District are confident a threat from one student to another has been laid to rest.  On Monday, a first grader reportedly threatened a kindergartner at a bus stop, saying he would get his father's gun and shoot him.  After identifying the child that made the threat, he admitted to saying "something inappropriate," and a search of the parent's home did not turn up any weapon.

East Alton Police Lieutenant Brian Archer says while all threats are taken seriously, the age of the kids involved was also taken into consideration.

Eastwood Elementary Principal Matt Stimac says the situation was addressed, and they are using this as a teachable moment.

Stimac comments

Stimac says the situation has been dealt with and they did not try to hide it.  At the same time, he says with kids this age they want to be careful about giving out too much information and "putting ideas in students' heads."
