Illinois gun makers are considering fighting back against the state's recent ban on assault weapons. The owner of one Illinois weapons manufacturing firm says lawmakers shouldn't rush to judgment in the wake of the mass shootings at a Connecticut elementary school. Mark Westrom of Geneseo-based ArmaLite Incorporated says any ban on semi-automatic weapons should only be addressed at the federal level.
While Illinois gun manufacturers would not specify their plans, they've previously threatened to take their business elsewhere. Gun makers currently employ an estimated several hundred workers in Illinois.
