Donations have been flowing in through several groups looking to help the cleanup and recovery effort in Harrisburg after the February tornado that damaged or destroyed hundreds of homes. Diane Horning is secretary of the Alton-Godfrey Kiwanis Club had a chance to view the efforts recently.
Horning also says there are still dozens upon dozens of homes with temporary tarp roofs and she suspects some homes that were completely destroyed won’t be rebuilt.
The Kiwanis Club is one of about 20 of those groups raising funds for the recovery efforts. They have planed a pancake breakfast for Saturday at the Alton Applebee's and are accepting donations to help Harrisburg recover. Ticket sales for the breakfast have ended.
To donate to the relief efforts you can send a check to the Alton-Godfrey Kiwanis Foundation, P. O. Box 5248 Godfrey, IL 62035. Checks may be made to the Alton-Godfrey Kiwanis Foundation in order to be considered tax deductible donations.
