A number of Alton residents opposed to how the idea of bringing a hotel to the Downtown Alton riverfront are taking issue with the findings of a new feasibility study. The study seems to support the claim that the city would benefit from a 110-room hotel with 10,500 feet of conference center space, but City With A View co-founder Monica Mason says while there may be a need for such a facility, she believes there are better options.

She says the group would like to see a comprehensive and integrated master plan for the city, as opposed to what she refers to as a “fairly uninformed and rather random development project.” City officials maintain a final plan has not been established, and there will be ample opportunity for public input as the process moves forward.
