A concrete business and an animal shelter will soon have a new road for access at the Macoupin County Business Park. Located just north of the fairgrounds on Route 4, the facility was launched as the result of a study by the Macoupin Economic Development partnership indicating the county lacked site-ready locations for light industry. Groundbreaking on Macoupin Business Park Drive means the next step in the process of attracting new business to the site is well underway
Several new tenants are looking at it as a possible location, according to MEDP Executive Director Shari Albrecht, who says the first two businesses laid the groundwork for future success.
The jobs and the business the plant generates will create tax revenue that experts say can be used to pay to pump back into further development at the business park.
