The Green Gift Bazaar returns to the River Bend on Saturday. Along with the normal array of local artists and vendors this year the Bazaar will feature a couple of environmentally themed films as well as other activities for children of all ages. Saturday is Small Busiess Saturday, and a better fit for this event that having it on Black Friday, as was the case a few years ago.
The fact that the bazaar is a showcase for artisans and other local vendors does not lend itself well to the frenzy that has become Black Friday, according to the Sierra Club's Christine Favilla. She says in addition to the vendors, there will be other attractions that day for the kids.
They will also be recycling Christmas lights and household batteries that day. The event kicks off at 10 am inside the Riverbender.com Community Center located on West 3rd street in downtown Alton and runs until 4 pm.
