The application process for Illinois American Water’s 2015 Environmental Grant Program is now open. Last year the utility awarded over $15,000 for watershed projects around the state, including three in the Riverbend. The program was started to support innovative, community-based environmental projects that improve, restore or protect the watersheds, surface water and/or groundwater supplies through partnerships.

The National Great Rivers Research and Education Center received a $5,000 grant for the Expanding Discovery: New Watersheds and Increased Stewardship Project as part of the 2014 grant program.
