The Grafton Police Department is currently looking for a new police chief after Chris Sullivan accepted a job in Western Illinois, where he can be closer to his family. Sullivan resigned from his position and his last day was September 27. Grafton Mayor Tom Thompson says Sullivan is helping in the search for his replacement.

He says there is one applicant from outside the area, who is currently living in Indiana. He says the job is posted on a number of websites and there are three applicants. Sullivan will be relocating to Aledo where he will oversee the police department. He formerly worked for the Alton Police Department where he was made sergeant in 1993 and lieutenant in 1997. He became Alton Police Chief in 2002 and retired in 2009. In 2011 Sullivan joined the Grafton Police Department and was made chief shortly thereafter.
